This secluded area of marsh, wet grassland and ponds lies alongside Salary Brook on the eastern fringe of Colchester. It is owned by Colchester Council, who are working with local volunteers to improve access and encourage the fine wetland vegetation, which includes hemlock water-dropwort and devilsbit scabious.
Visiting
In the north-east of Colchester, reached via footpaths off Avon Road, which runs from the Tesco roundabout on the A133 to Bromley Road, near the Beehive PH.
Bus services from Colchester run along the A133.
Accessible at all times.
High to late summer for wetland flowers and insects.
